Sewing Project for September 7th

Used the fabric that I dyed earlier this week and made a little quilted piece. Added in the bottom fabric you see to mix it up Another project that I started today(also used some of the zebra print fabric that i dyed). This will possibly become a pocket on a bag or something like that. Or a mini table runner. Im not really sure Sneak Peak at some of the colors I have picked out for a Special Order

September 5th- tye dye!

Dyed some fabric and clothes today! This is about 2 1/2 pots of boiling water, about 1/2 of cup of salt( I didn't measure, I just poured salt into a plastic storage container and brought that outside), and 1 packet of Royal Blue RIT dye from JoAnn Fabrics Royal Blue! I let everything sit for about 30 minutes and stirred it about every 10 minutes. I then emptied that out and then added some cold water and let everything sit in that for about 10 minutes. I poured that water out and squeezed the water and any excess dye from all the items and then another cold soak for about 20 minutes.  I hung everything up outside and let them dry before I threw them in to the washing machine and washed them in cold water with detergent. Left to Right: -This piece of fabric was a really weird  off-blue color and I didn't really like it. I tied the corners in knots and tossed that into the bucket -This was a Black and White Zebr

Sewing Project for September 3rd

So far I'm 3 for 3 this month. I remembered I had started a new case for a porch cushion the other year. I got as far as pinning the edges to make a seam. This took me all of 10 minutes to cut, pin, sew and serge. I eye-balled straight lines while sewing(I've gotten really good at that), and the hardest part was getting that pillow inside the case! It's definitely a tight fit, but it works.   features:  different front and back fabric the back has the envelope/pocket style closure serged all around the inside seams If you don't remember the cushion covers I made, click here

September is National Sewing Month!

September is National Sewing Month!! September is National Sewing Month(!!), which means it's the perfect time to finish all those 1/2 finished projects I've started. I've already started off finishing a laptop dust case I started last year. I say "dust case" because it's not the best protector for your 13 inch Mac Book Pro, but it keeps it clean and you'll be able to show off your favorite Marvel Superheros! (features: quilt batting for thickness, velcro closure, which includes room for the charging cable so you can keep it plugged in and charging while still in the case) Today I found some fleece I had in a drawer and cut, serged and sewed the edges for heatpacks. I completed one, the other 3 need buttons and I'll save that for a rainy day. I also went to JoAnns and picked out some fabric for a special order of placemats. I found some cute fabric for this order and I'll need to go back probably at the end of the week for som
